Forecast heavy rainfall from Saturday until early Sunday have prompted emergency services to remind Redlands residents not to drive through floodwaters.

Between 30mm and 60mm is expected to fall in South East Queensland over the weekend, prompting flash-flooding fears for the region.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Lee Johnson reiterated the “if it’s flooded, forget it” message as the rain system moved into the region on Friday.

“Under no circumstance should people enter floodwaters or causeways by road or on foot,” he said.

“Parents, please discourage your children from playing or swimming in flooded creeks and drains. Floodwaters are deadly and the dangers are lurking beneath the surface.

The Redland SES Unit is on standby in case of any calls for assistance over the weekend.
