The Dubbo Young Professionalshas a new committee, and with it, anew plan for the group.

Former vice-president Dan Wagnerhas been elected as president, whilePeta Reardon has taken over the reinsas vice-president.

Mr Wagner said the YoungProfessionals were previously focusedon once-a-month Friday night drinks,but now the club is looking tointroduce additional networkingevents such as a fortnightly breakfastget-together.

The club is also hoping to generatea stronger bond with the Chamber ofCommerce to broaden its professionalnetwork.

“It’s a great opportunity to makefriends and, from a professionalaspect, seek out an opportunity fromlike-minded professionals. It’s good tohave those local contacts,” Mr Wagnersaid.

“We’re consistently looking at newideas and opportunities.”

He said the new plans for theYoung Professionals were still in theearly stages but added the reaction ofthe committee had been positive.

“We just needed the mechanism tofacilitate some of those things. Thegroup lacked a champion,” Mr Wagnersaid.

Ms Reardon said she found some ofthe events the Young Professionalshad held in the past were out of theprice range of the members, which iswhy new events were beingestablished and would be open toeveryone, with no cost and no RSVP.

She said the social aspects of thegroup was really important for newresidents to be welcomed to thecommunity and to make new friends.

Ms Reardon has lived in Dubbo fornearly six years but said joining thegroup still lead her to a whole newcircle of friends.

Officially, the Young Professionalshas about 85 paying members butthere are more than 400 members onthe mailing list with more alwayswelcome.
